CareFirst Healthcare for Addiction Treatment
While choosing an IOP over inpatient care is not for everyone, many clients find Intensive Outpatient Programs can be a much less expensive option than residential treatment, either due to lower total costs, or because they allow the client freedom to continue with work and family obligations during their recovery.
Guardian IOP welcomes clients with CareFirst Healthcare plans. CareFirst is an independent licensee of Blue Cross Blue Shield and is among the largest health insurance providers in the northeast, with 3.3 million insured. CareFirst members have access to Blue Cross Blue Shield’s trusted network of service providers, and at these partnered providers, their insurance benefits are maximized. Guardian IOP is a proud partner of CareFirst. Your CareFirst plan may be branded as BlueChoice, BluePreferred or Healthy Blue depending upon the state in which your plan originated.
If your CareFirst health plan was purchased on the Health Insurance Marketplace, it will include CareFirst behavioral health benefits. Employer plans may, or may not, include behavioral health benefits. If you are unsure of the benefits included in your plan, a quick phone call to Guardian IOP will provide the answers your questions. For plans that include behavioral health benefits, you can be rest assured that these benefits are no more restrictive than benefits for any other medical or surgical necessity, thanks to the Mental Health Parity Act of 2008.
Did you know…The Mental Health Parity Act of 2008 concludes that the following mental health benefits can be no more restrictive than those for medical procedures? Including:
- Copayments, coinsurance and deductibles
- Out-of-pocket maximums
- Limits on office or outpatient visits
- Access to out-of-network providers
- Standards for pre-authorization requirements
If your plan is a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plan, your benefits are maximized when you visit an in-network provider. If your plan is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan, your benefits might extend to any provider of your choice. All plans will have a deductible, the amount you are required to pay out-of-pocket before your health insurance benefits begin. All plans will also have copayment requirements. Your copayment is a one-time fee for any particular service or visit.
Your CareFirst Healthcare plan can help reduce the out-of-pocket expenses associated with your treatment plan at Guardian IOP. Benefits may extend to your individual or group therapy sessions, specialized active therapy, and family and relationship therapy with licensed clinical social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. Benefits may include coverage for age-specific and gender-specific programming, life skills training and relapse prevention education.
